Netflix, Lionsgate Sign Exclusive U.K. and Ireland Streaming Pact
Lionsgate and Netflix have signed a deal granting the subscription service exclusive streaming rights in the U.K. and Ireland to the studio’s feature films, the two companies announced on Monday.
The deal has been rumored for some time and follows on the heels of a similar pact the beleagured rental giant signed last week with MGM for its streaming rights in the two countries.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but the company described the licensing pact as multi-year.
Lionsgate titles will be available for Netflix members in the two countries to watch instantly in the pay TV window on their televisions, tablets, game consoles, computers and mobile phones.
The service is expected to launch in early 2012.
Not such great news if you live in the U.S., where the majority of Netflix’ customers reside. Is this the best Netflix can do - signing deals with studios to offer content in a few select countries? Pretty fragmented approach, if you ask me.
